I've posted my mods to WinROTT here. At this point, I've ported the project over to VS 2008. Not a lot of changes to the source, other than cleaning up some macros and unreachable code. Still a long way to go. This mod is for Windows only. I will be working on a FreeBSD/KDE/X-Windows port in the future. I am an experienced FreeBSD/KDE developer, so all of you Linux guys don't worry, there will be a *nix port for X. I've created a wiki at http://www.codewiz51.com/wiki. It's not fully functional yet. I am not finished reading the documentation, and I don't want to open it up until I am sure of what I am doing. I do need to get the licensing cleared up from Birger's. He didn't place a license in his source code. I cannot just place a GPL on it, as it is his code. Later, CodeWiz51
Just go with the flow on the course schedule. You'll still learn a lot about operating systems, even in an MS centric school. I find that skills transfer between environments. On piece of advice: focus on the language, not the api/os centric calls. It's the algorithms, not the api calls that count in real life.

Ah ok, thanks! Well, its not only that they are ms centric, but they keep drilling this notion that if we dont seek employment at microsoft when we leave college, we're just wandering in the desert.

hey codewiz! Great you finally posted here!
Hmm, there shouldnt be any licensing problems with Birger's code, since his port is based on the original rott code which is GPL. So any code Birger made to that project should be GPL too. Just clearing that up.
You're an experienced FreeBSD/KDE developer? Awesome! Just the kind of expertise we need here! Maybe you can share with us some of your coding style.
Ill be taking programming next semester.
PS, you prefer freebsd and apache over windows and IIS? That's awesome, you should be saying that here in this stupid ms-centric college i go to.

Post subject: New WinROTT Source Code
I've posted my mods to WinROTT here. At this point, I've ported the project over to VS 2008. Not a lot of changes to the source, other than cleaning up some macros and unreachable code. Still a long way to go. This mod is for Windows only. I've created a wiki at

It's not fully functional yet. I am not finished reading the documentation, and I don't want to open it up until I am sure of what I am doing.
