I love ROTT. I have no idea how to mod it (though after years I've decided to try to learn!), I'm just a player.
However, I'd like somewhere to share the love for people of all levels. Wolf3D has a couple of sites and forums so why the apparent lack of interest in ROTT?
So, I thought I'd post here (vainly?) and see if anyone had any ideas how to get a spark going for the great game.
My tuppence-worth would be to ask for a General ROTT Discussion forum - maybe the editing/modding umbrella puts of noobs like me? Also, a nice colourful banner just to make the site look a little more lively... I could run up something if you guys wanted. Or maybe we could try to start a competition. We could maybe raise the profile by posting at Wolf/Doom/Build sites.
I know this sounds a little naive but I really would like to see a 'ROTTnaissance' (see what I did there!?).
So, what do you think? |

Well, we couldn't exactly force people to come here. Also, advertising a forum on another forum is a good way to be looked down upon.
Maybe if we had a few internal projects that may spark some attention. It's why I originally joined AMC when it was still in existence. _________________ -Swim, swim, hungry |

I was just thinking of ways to entice rather than force! I know advertising isn't great but I have made my sig on the forums I visit a link to here. Nobody seems to be interested though. I mentioned it over at the 3DR forum and the only 2 responses I got were along the lines of "Well, we're happy here and the community only needs one forum..." so I suppose that sums up people's thinking.
Maybe a community project would be an idea. How would we go about it if nobody is here though... ? |

Well, ultimately... It's up to people who like ROTT whether they join here or not.
Also, I see you convinced admin to open up the forums again, but ultimately... In the end, it will be his decision if they remain open. He closed it before for inactivity, and things really aren't looking so great again. Maybe that will change, maybe not. We will have to see. _________________ -Swim, swim, hungry |

I know i'm pretty late to the party here, but I wouldn't mind getting involved in some type of project. Started messing with Rott editing last week, and its more fun than I thought it would be. |

Maybe, depending on time constraints and my relatively short attention span, I could fire up RottED, and try my hand at level making again. _________________ -Swim, swim, hungry |

I think it would be nice to get a community thing going, even if it would be very small.
Btw how good is RottED? Haven't given it a try yet. |

I think RottED is the best editor out there... But it's all just a matter of preference. _________________ -Swim, swim, hungry |

Gave RottEd a try, and I can certainly see why you like it
For some reason I just love the interface. |

That its is.
Back on topic slightly, you mentioned trying your had at map making again. Should we attempt some type of project? I would have to get in contact with Per-Scan again to see what his view on this is before going anywhere with it thought. Believe he's a little distracted at the moment.
This may be futile, but hey at least i'm giving it a shot |

Well, as of current, I'm not sure what I can do. Also, trying again was just to see what I could do and if level editing still interested me.
If it does, then sure... I'll help out. _________________ -Swim, swim, hungry |
