I just love that where a fairly small community, something about our little group here thats just really awesome Smile

While ZROTT would be cool, we should certainly be able to come up with a much better name for this theoretical port Wink

Well, at the risk of pushing what a mod is I've decided to continue this 'mod'. I've inserted some textures you may recognise:



I'm not going for a full TC look though and want to keep some ROTT in it:


hosting images

I'm unsure where to draw the line in the balance of the look but I do want a proper mash-up of Doom and ROTT. I'm calling the project, predictably enough, "Doomed to ROTT".

PS: Does this count as a mod? If not what does?! Smile

Ha! Cool. I've posted screens of the first mod for ROTT I know of. Does anyone know of any others at all?

Are you making modifications to the wad files, or are you using winrotts external textures method to do this?

P.S.: How did you get sections to rise down from the ceiling like that?

It appears to me to be BG tile #21 (metal wall) combined with Info tile #4 (top catwalk).

Doing that sure doesn't produce the same block effect in Rott3deditor. It just shows it as being flat.

Mike's correct. That's what I did. I'll have to try it in Rott3DEditor as I did this in RMD and at first it complained of errors but then seemed to accept it.

The one strange thing I've found with this trick though is that I can't seem to use any other wall texture other than 21. Even if I replace it with another texture named 21 the game just generates another version of it's metal wall and uses that... Peculiar.

Please do, as using that same method I only get that flat version, not a full cube as you have in your pics.

And I think there may be limitations on what textures can be used for stuff like that, but do not quote me on this.

Ignore my problem. Because I rarely use winrottGL, I did not realize that it would change it from the flat view appearance like in DOSrott and Winrott, to the cube like appearance that I see in your screenshots Embarassed
