After noticing in another thread where the use of auto-run came up it got me thinking how people play. I play with mouse and keyboard with the following configuration:
E,S,D & F for Forward, Back and Strafing
R for Use
Space for Weapon Switch
W for Quick Turn (though I never use it!)
Mouse for turning (but no mouse look in WintROTT)
Button 1 for Fire
Button 2 for Look Down
and Mousewheel right for Look Up
I also have TAB mapped to my mouse button 4 for the automap (which I use all the time)
I always have auto-run on and pretty much always play with Taradino Cassat.
So, what's your playing set up? Are you old school and only use the keyboard or do you use one of those new-fangled 'mouse' things too...? |

Use WASD layout with WinROTTGL, use old school FPS layout when play with original ROTT.exe, plain and simple. :p _________________ My crap ROTT fan site. :p

I'm probably about as old-school as they get.
I never touch the mouse during play. arrow keys for movement, CTRL for fire, and ALT for strafe modified. RETURN toggles weapon, SPACE opens doors, and TAB for the map. It's probably the default game configuration.

I got used to FPSes with mouse aim from Star Wars Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight... So my config is as follows:
[W], [A], [S], [D] to move,
[Spacebar] to "Use" things.
[Left Click] to Fire, [Middle Click] for Alt Fire, [Right Click] to jump.
[Shift] to run, [Q] for Melee or Last weapon in Source Engine games.
[MouseWheel] for my normal weapon switching. (Sometimes [MouseWheel Up] for zoom)
[E] to use an item in inventory.
[I] for inventory.
[Z] for zooming.
[C] for crouching.
I tend to play as an aggressor, I play things through very swiftly and tend to use melee weapons and shotguns in most FPS games. Though I play fast, I also tend to be very observant and notice a lot so I find secrets and break levels often. My mouseaiming is speedy enough that I tend to be rather formidable in online play, I will almost always lose against slower strategists though. In TF2 I normally play as the Scout, and in ROTT, I normally play as Lorelei Ni. I do have some strategy when I play online though, like I will see someone, shoot at them and run, wait behind a corner with a shotty and when they get into close range, I am in my element. I tend to lean toward fast characters. I can play the slow strategic game though, In games like Call of Duty, I love weapons like the FAMAS.
Whenever I find someone who is able to beat me at something in online play, I consider that person a rival and like trying to play games vs them, so I'll stay on servers where there is a person who is dominating and intentionally challenge them. I don't get frustrated when I lose though, as it's all just for the love of the game. I actually make friends with a lot of good players. I also commonly think, ah, niiice... Whenever I get one-uped by a rival. _________________ -Swim, swim, hungry |

Pretty much this

I can certainly agree to that. In the more recent Call of Duties i've usually been sticking to this gun, and using the marathon pro perk and lightweight perk (Think those are right, haven't been playing in awhile). I always love to run fast in those games, which is quite odd considering I use a more defensive strategy in most games. _________________ Head on over to the Rise of the Triad HQ for ROTT news, downloads, and more!

Boy, that is hardcore. Every-so-often I try to use the keyboard just for kicks but I end up being tempted back to the mouse. I just find the twitchy keyboard turning too frustrating. Well done on the old school kudos though! |
