Im thinking about starting such a project, which makes a completely new ROTT Wad that could be freely downloaded, made exclusively for this community. What do you guys think? Is it possible/feasable? _________________ ROTT lives! |

Glad to see you got that posting issue fixed
I'll go ahead and state my comments again so we can get the ball rolling.
Its going to be quite a project. This has parallels to other free projects, and even the oldest among them have still yet to be completed. I think one of the biggest hurdles for this isn't going to be so much making new maps or even making new textures, its going to be making new enemies. Rise of the Triad has very distinct sprites (thanks to the digitization method 3d Realms chose) compared to most other games at the time, and making free equivalents might be a bit difficult if we try to stay similar to Rott's original style. Another thing to consider is coherency among resources. One of FreeDooms problems is its monsters. Its got quite a few new creatures, yet because of the resources coming from multiple sources/contributor's some of the monsters just don't mesh well with others.
Another thing we could consider is how to go about improving the Rise of the Triad experience. Perhaps with this project we can tackle some of the issues people have had with the game, I know people have complained about the original games textures just not being varied enough. Though with this we're going to be limited to just visuals in this department. Modding weapon/enemy behavior isn't quite newcomer-friendly. _________________ Head on over to the Rise of the Triad HQ for ROTT news, downloads, and more!

Yeah, it's going to be difficult, but not impossible. We need sprite people. Do you know any sprite makers?
I was trying to contact Birger since he could help with modding weapons and enemy AI, but he hasnt replied. ROTT needs better mouse and control support. GLROTT has terrible controls. _________________ ROTT lives! |

I don't know any personally, well probably have to check around at a few forums and see if we can find talented people. Also we're probably going to have a better chance at getting weapon sprite help, as making new enemies is going to be quite the investment.
Which email did you sent the message to? I remember the first time I emailed him about Rott3deditor I sent it to his old address. _________________ Head on over to the Rise of the Triad HQ for ROTT news, downloads, and more!
