cool stuff rottadmin 
ever tried zzt or megazeux... they are an excellent way to start to learn to program games in other languages but both lack graphics... google them up and you may like what you find
also one of my friends is absolutaly hooked on rpgmaker, its a good game making app too give theese a shot

I'm trying to learn C++, I'm gonna get me a ton of books on it so I can get solid on it

i have lots of game making programs if you would like to know!
torque game builder is good for making pc games, shiva stone trip is for making itouch games, game editor can make mobile phone and pc games as well as g2px games, fps creator for well... fps games, virtools is good and if u "upgrade" your license you can make wii and psp games, oh and sphere is good but you need to learn javascript to make games
there are millions of other i know but novashell is good but my computer cant use it so.. im screwed on using it!
but im also trying to learn more c++ so hey dopefish could you help me out too? i know some but not toooooo much as im a artist and use programs to help me out
