I installed some of version of Skulltag for Doom 2 a while ago. 2 Days ago, I tried to get ROTT: Dark War working. I clicked on the wrong file on the CD-Rom, which was a .wad that was set up by my computer settings to play Doom 2 by Skulltag by default. It loaded up Doom 2. It wasn’t glitchy as far as exiting out or freezing up. However, it played glitchy and psychedelically when you start the game.
If anybody has a question about how I did this, then I’ll try to do it again, remember the filename, check my settings, and check the Skulltag version. |

Sounds interesting! I've tried running it through lots of versions of Skulltag, Zdoom and PrBoom but I can't replicate what you had running. I either get an error of the Doom port just ignores it and loads the standard Doom2.WAD...
If you could work out what you did I'd like to try it out.
By the way, did you ever get your ROTT game to install and update properly? |

I thought about this and it might be more accurate to call it photo negative and silhouette Doom 2. However, it’s not exactly consistent.
I’ll try it again. I’m going to be checking my dxdiag, system, and what Skulltag version I have.
Go to Start Panel > Run > and type dxdiag. Go to the system and display tabs to tell me what you have. I’ll do this overnight.
Schabbs sent me a message 2 days ago about getting ROTT to work. I’m going to try what he says. |

The strange thing is that on the CD cover it says v1.2a, but when you try to install it, it gives you info that it's 1.2b.
If D is your CD-rom drive, then the file was D:\ROTTINST\DARKWAR . I think that it’s a .wad file.
I’m running Skulltag 0.98b (Mar 7 2010). I’ll try to check the other info now. |

Taken straight from DXDiag:
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
DxDiag Version: 5.03.2600.5512 32bit Unicode
The only version of Skulltag that I have installed in the latest release which is 0.98c. I also run XP Service Pack 3.
Let me know how you get on with the ROTT installation. |

My dxdiag system and dxdiag display info:

Once I chatted with drdanick on wolf3d.darkbb.com about getting the Lego Wolfenstein 3D game in the C4 engine to work on my computer. He told me to check my dxdiag settings on the display tab. He said that it won’t work because I have an Intel, not a NVidia driver. I’m wondering if my computer is outdated if it has the glitch where it displays photo negative and silhouette Doom 2. I think that weeks or months ago, I tried something else with a Doom 2 source port without the ROTT: Dark War CD and it showed photo negative and silhouette Doom 2.
I took a screen shot of the game and it’s messed up. For some reason, it took 90% of the non-black colors and turned them black.
It must be 11:30 pm where you are. Tell me your computer settings tomorrow.

Let me know how you get on with the ROTT installation. | I meant I was wondering if you have an Intel card, NVidia card, or something else. My computer is from 2004 and I'm wondering if this glitch is outdated with my outdated computer. |

My graphics card is an Nvidia 7950 GTX. It's a few years old now (came with my gaming laptop but it's 512MB and still holds it's own. It's certainly more than enough for all the old games I like to play!
Could you post a picture of your screenshot. I'd be interested to see it. Maybe I could help diagnose the problem? |
