Gloom is a cross between Wolfenstein 3D and ROTT in a different engine. We need help debugging a problem. Post on either web forum:

Can I ask, what is the engine that Gary uses? Is it a custom build of his own? It doesn't really look that much different from the original Wolf. Just curious. Smile

Having just checked out Gloom, it looks as though it uses Castle Grom by Raziel as a base. The seamless levels feature (which has levels 19 and 20 as secret levels like in Spear) is coded in.

One solution is that the game ends on level 18. Level 19 can be a secret level accessed from a secret elevator on level 4 as exiting level 19 brings the player to level 5. I'll email Gary about it.

Gary has now fixed the Gloom level 19 exit elevator bug by having the game end after 19 straight levels.

Latest version is at http://www.mediafire.com/?w2qcccw22p8y0y9 .

Yeah, he sent me a message that he sent the updated Gloom to the Brazilian web site or company that I think that I mentioned. He's dividing the 60 levels into Gloom, Gloom 2, and Gloom 3. He's making new title screens.

So, is Gary trying to make this into a commercial release or is it more a 'shareware compilation' kind of thing? Regardless, it's good there's a working solution for him. Smile

I don't think a commercial release would be allowed. Probably more on the lines of 3 separate Gloom 'shareware compilation' sets.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking but some countries are a little more 'liberal' in what is allowed to be released - I'm thinking of all the dodgy Sega clones and the like.

It'll be nice to see the 'releases' though. Smile
