Let me see the map and perhaps I can help.
Upload it somewhere, or email it to me at rott at mikemiller dot net and I'll give it a look. Does it crash consistently or sporadically? Do you get an error message?

I don't believe phpbb allows you to directly upload any pictures to there boards, so you have to have the picture exist somewhere else on the internet, then link to it from here. _________________ Head on over to the Rise of the Triad HQ for ROTT news, downloads, and more!

This is true... You would wrap the picture with "[img][/img]" tags. If you have a picture on your computer you want to post, uploading it to ImageShack and using the direct link works well... But since this board doesn't have scaling, most of the time I right click the thumbnail and copy it's url and put the normal size image in URL tags around it.
Eg: [url=<Image>][img]<Thumbnail>[/img][/url]... _________________ -Swim, swim, hungry |

Thanks for the offer but I don't really have a map as such just now. What happens is that I'll make a simple room or two and then place things in them such as baddies and weapons. Sometimes it works and sometimes the map has errors saying I have placed the wrong thing in the wrong place. I haven't really worked out why this happens to me.
I'm on a different machine just now and don't have the editor or 'maps' to hand but I'll post back later with a little more detail. |

Sure thing.
There are specific rules as to where items can and cannot be placed, and takes a bit of trial and error to figure it all out. If you come up with an example that crashes, perhaps I can help decipher it for you.

To try and get this planned out a bit, what size of an episode would be well suited for this kind of thing? Surely we're not going to be able to pull off a 30 map sized rtl file...but do we want to keep in the 10-15 range, be a little ambitious and go for 20...or make a 99 level rtl file (kidding )

Well, there's maybe 5 of us here that are active at the moment. If we were to commit to 2 each that would still only be 10. Which isn't actually that bad. Hopefully other lurkers will show there ugly mugs at some point though!
I have lots of ideas and thanks to Mike's pointers I have a much better understanding of the mechanics now. So, I would be happy to do a couple... |

EDIT: Interestingly, Player Lin (he made The Dark Realm) has turned up at the 3DR forum and between him Stonefrog, Reaper Man and the incredibly active Daikonov that would be another potential 4 mappers - If they were up for it!
Also, maybe we could persuade Schabbs to contribute a map... |

Might be getting a little ahead of yourself here Per-Scan
While there is 5 of us here, you have to remember only 4 of us expressed interest in working on this. Mike never said he was interested in helping with this, as to be expected as he's spending much of his time in getting Mike's Madness perfected.
Now to the guys at 3DR. Its nice to see Player Lin showing up again, but as to if he would help or not entirely depends on if he feels up to it. I remember from old posts here that he commonly got distracted with other things.
Stonefrog and Reaper Man? Yes, I think that once we hit the point where we actually want to get this thing started, we should open an invitation to them and see if they would be interested in this.
Daikonov...while being an amazingly active ROTT mapper, may not want to get involved with this considering he's working quite hard to get his episode out.
Shabbs...have to be your call on that. Personally, I don't see him wanting to do that. From what I seen, he seems mostly a wolf guy. I know he likes ROTT, I just don't know if he like it enough to make anything with it.
Thought I might just give a little recap on that. Though I will say it doesn't hurt to ask about things and see if they may be interested As you said in your post.."Another 4 potential mappers". I just thought I might give my opinions on who would mostly likely help, and who wouldn't. _________________ Head on over to the Rise of the Triad HQ for ROTT news, downloads, and more!

As I've stated before, I'll always be happy to create more maps if people are playing the maps I've already created. Other than scratching a creative itch, it's rather pointless to create maps nobody is going to play.
(I know a few of you are in the midst of playing my levels, so no pressure is intended by this statement) but to date nobody, to my knowledge, has ever completed my levels, except me.
