Do other 16-bit applications have this problem? |
I thought about that and had a look and everything looks fine to me. I don't have any problems with any other program at all. ROTTed (Which I presume to be 16 bit) is fine as is the older Wolf3D editor, FloEdit, that I tried... |
Unusual... I'm afraid I can't think of what could cause this then. _________________ -Swim, swim, hungry |

Unfortunately, it's nothing unusual for me. I always have the most curious glitches and problems with tech. I always follow instructions (to the best of my ability!). I clean and maintain my hardware. Everything is plugged into surge protectors and all software is always kept up to date. I love tech but it doesn't love me!! There's a name for this condition but I can't remember what it's called off-hand. |

So what does this mean for you? What if you are unable to get RMD functioning again? _________________ Head on over to the Rise of the Triad HQ for ROTT news, downloads, and more!

It means he'll be stuck in a cycle of playing my levels, and me creating more levels for him to play. _________________ I love ROTT |

Okay. Does this make sense to anyone!? If the either laptop is between around 6 and 18 inches off the ground RMD works correctly. If either machine is out-with this window (such as on the floor, my lap, desk, table whatever) it doesn't work...
That's why it worked attached to the TV. It sits in a drawer about 6 inches off the ground. And the night I made my test level I was lying on a flattened futon with the laptop beside me. Go figure... My name is Pedro and this is my life. ... |

Cooling problems?
I've seen all sorts of strange happenings on systems that were overheating. _________________ I love ROTT |

I don't think so. The machines feel cool as a cucumber and my one usually sits on a Zalman laptop cooler. Also, the hottest the machines ever get is when they're stuck in the very drawer that they work well from! And I only have this problem with this one piece of software... I'm clutching at straws now but I'm going to strip one of them tomorrow just in case something's sitting a bit funny. I don't know what else to try.
The good news, though, is I now have a method of making RMD work consistently. I just lie on the futon and all's well!
And as you say, when I'm not on the futon I've got more time to play your maps! |

Cooling problems can cause a wealth of odd behavior on computer systems, just as mike said. Considering what you said, it seems like it might be something in that department. Do you have this kind of problems with other applications? _________________ Head on over to the Rise of the Triad HQ for ROTT news, downloads, and more!
