el zee mentioned a chat room would be a better way to set up a network game rather then a forum, and that made me think. We really could use a chat room now. There's far more of use here now than back in 2008, so why not have a official ROTT chatroom lying around somewhere?
My question would be how to get one set up, as this is venturing into territory I know nothing about.

I'm working on something and should be able to explain in a day or two. It's nothing too big so don't get too excited! 
In the meanwhile I've set up a chatroom here:
irc://ircnet/ROTT
If you don't have an IRC client I recommend the Chatzilla plugin for Firefox. I was actually messing around with it today and was going to mention it tomorrow but you've forced my hand! |

| Boy, the time difference is a big issue. By the time time Mike was 'there' it was after 2:00am here and I was tucked up in bed! We need to find out a 'common' time for most folk - which, unfortunately for me, seems to be about 2 in the morning! |

I could probably get on sooner than with mike, but then again I think thats like around 10 your time or so.

I've tried, but to be honest i've never managed to connect. could be because i've never used a IRC client before and have no idea what i'm doing

If you have Opera, you can connect with just the link I do believe... Otherwise, get this... This is XChat 2, a free IRC client for Windows...
I cannot recall the exact GUI for it so I will describe what to type in the main chat window...
/server irc.ircnet.org (This is to connect to IRCnet's server)
/join #ROTT (This is to join the room)

(I may be on over the holidays, but don't quote me on that...)

Still no luck. I try connecting to IRCnet but it never connects.
