so far i am working on two rooms the start and a room that resemble an area where vehicles are parked and stored.

also for this level it may take quit a bit of thinking because i want to add a catwalky style of level like catwalks you would find in factories so i may get stuck with this one

Well it sounds pretty cool, but take as much time as you need Hammer. One thing I like about your levels is they have a feel and atmosphere to them, and i'm sure this one will be no different when you finish it Smile

Good luck with the catwalk thing. I was messing around with that very thing last night. Jeez, are GAD's hard to work with!

Once you get the hang of it, it's not too bad using Rott Mapper Deluxe.
You have to use Tools->Height Adjust to set the height you want and then check the "Use Height Adjustments" box....

Let me know if you need more assistance.

And now that I've finished screwing with my own levels, I will play hammer's to completion.

Yeah, it's just getting the position and height differentials correct (to make, say, a staircase).

And, yeah, you could be of assistance. How do you place things on the GAD's? I tried just clicking the bullet proof armour onto it but it didn't seem to work... Thanks in advance. Smile

That's when you use the "auto-increment" feature of the "Height Adjustments" tool. Each increment can't be bigger than X. I forget what X is. I think it might be 4, but I'd have to go back and experiment.

You can't.
Usually you place things up high (perhaps just past the "top step" of the GAD stairwell) by floating them in the air or on top of a bottom/mid catwalk (FG tile #9).

Hello fellas this is the first level i have made that is going to be part of a little mini episode i am making and is available to you guys for testing please give it a run through and see what you think Smile.

this episode will consist of 3 parts with four levels in each part

these parts are millitary base, rocky mountains and eventually the main triad stronghold.

Okay, I finally finished this level.
I wish I had remembered you said there was no exit, as I spent forever trying to find one after the touchplate by the iron key seemed to trigger nothing. Oops! The area with the enforcers didn't crash the game for me, but it was very difficult, since there seemed to be a severe shortage of powerups available (although I was playing it on the most difficult setting as I tend to do). And I will echo a previous comment that the symmetry of the level tended to give away a bit too much. Overall, still fun.

Thanks,

-Mike

Well while it is disappointing to be losing another ROTTmapper for awhile, its understandable. I do hope you managed to find time to work on this though, as it really is an awesome episode and your levels are quite atmospheric.

Just be sure to stop by from time to time though if you can Smile

I'm trying to play the public test rtl file with the latest winrottgl and I keep
getting the following error in the debug file:

The file 'E:\DOWNLO~1\WI1C62~1\Debug\PUBLIC~1.RTL' is not a valid level file.
The file 'E:\DOWNLO~1\WI1C62~1\Debug\PUBLIC~1.RTL' is a version 2105345.1 RTL file.
The highest this version of ROTT can load is 1.1.

I've never seen this error before out of winrottgl.....

I can run it with WinROTTGL v1.56, but I renamed the RTL file to a 8.3 style filename(like publicTE.RTL), so I can run it just fine...

Tried that, also tried running it in 2 different versions of winrottgl, still
getting the same error, it must have been a bad download or something.

It must be something like that. I can't say I've had any errors like that in any version of WinROTT - even the one I'm trying out for you... Smile

Worked fine for me with the DOS version and normal WinRott. Might just try downloading it again and see if it works better then.
