So, im trying to get back into making rott content, rott's the best to create comm-bat and single levels faster than any other game. One problem with rott, though, is it's not so good comm-bat support in present day computers. So, looking at some of the surprise popular games, i got this.

Everyone here knows minecraft. i suppose. It's that game where people join a server or make one, and basically move in that squared-like world. With all the mods that have been made for that game, and seeing that the game looks a lot like rott, why not make a minecraft-rott mod that lets people make a rott-level right there in the server? I know i'd prefer joining a server to work with GADs instead of chopping trees. Very Happy I dont know if this could be reasonable at all, that's why im asking all the rott community members, specially those good with coding. Im thinking not a simple minecraft mod, because that would need minecraft and would be completely different from rott. I'm saying modifying rott so that something like in-game level making.

Minecraft is coded in Java, and nearly all of the classes have been figured out to an extent, so people have been able to write mods for it and change a lot... However I don't really think re-making an FPS like ROTT is really all that feasible... The game wasn't really built in a way that it could be done in any real easy way. You would literally have to re-code everything except some base engine components and netcode.

It is doable, but probably obscenely difficult... It would probably be easier to work with our current ports for the netcode. Wink

Also, Minecraft does require you to open your ports if you want a non-LAN server, very much like ROTT does now, so it wouldn't really gain us much. I would think.

I could very well be wrong however, if you see a way to do this, feel free to mention it.

Christmas.
People got new news, new games for Christmas, and now they're playing them. Old-ass games like ROTT are easily forgotten.

I still love ROTT. Smile

Yeah, like, playing minecraft is what gave me this idea of a rott minecraft-like thing, where people could build and play a level online as it is being built. That'd be awesome, if it's possible. Shocked
