Out of curiosity... How did you keep the bots out of this forum? At Bit2Logic, I have recently become an Administrator at their forums and I am interested on how to keep the spam out... I deleted over 9 pages of spam and would like to keep it out. _________________ -Swim, swim, hungry |

Well, it was just a matter of setting the forums to registered, so that only registered users can post. I stupidly had left the forums public, where guests could post, and thus the spambots felt at home here. It's under the control panel, in forum management i think. _________________ ROTT lives! |

Are they registering and posting spam? Or just posting as guests? If they are posting as guests then keep looking, the registration option will take care of that. If they are registering and posting as members, then select image verification or even admin verification. _________________ ROTT lives! |

Indeed this is a spambot problem. There used to be many spam posts like that in this forum until i figured i had left the public forum option, so that anyone could post withtout registering. When i disabled that the spam dissapeared. But it seems that in bit2logic's case its different since spam comes from registered members. Then maybe you should require account activation from the moderators before letting anyone post. Just an idea.
edit: In the link you give theres a picture of what i enabled in this forum to keep spambots from posting.
i did exactly that _________________ ROTT lives! |

Remember that this is not a phpbb forum... It does not have that option anywhere... Also why I contacted the site admin... Im just a regular administrator, I can do a lot, but I cannot install new forum software, thats a site admin job... _________________ -Swim, swim, hungry |
