Does WinRott have the ability to read Wad patches? I remember reading somewhere that it didn't, but i'm just not quite sure about that. Since Jbailey's showing up here again, I though this might be a good moment to ask.

Ignore this, I'm pretty sure I found my answer over at 3DR (man I need to check that place more often)

Anyway, I have another question of sorts.

I noticed awhile back when I was trying to figure out how to use the Wad editing programs properly that WinRott had the option of adding in new textures, and defining the specs of an actor, both of which was done outside the program. This instantly made me think of the Marathon Source Port Aleph One. Aleph One has the option for using LUA scripts in maps. This allows for quite a few intereting things to be done (think somewhat in the vein of ACS that Doom had), such as scripted events, causing enemies to appear in certain places, creating pda like screen overlays and inventory screens, modify weapon behaviors, modify character behaviors, the ability to replace textures...quite a few things really, and the LUA script file was placed in a specific folder in the Aleph One directory

I know ROTT is a good game, and to be honest...I think its utterly amazing that a fps game from the doom era that has not had a single mod *true mod* made for it has lasted this long. Its just amazing and should be awarded for that...but its 2010, near 2011, and ROTTs modding status is still in disarray. Don't get me wrong Jbailey; I absolutely love and am very thankful for the work you and Birger have but into this. WinRott has a few issues now and then, but its a very good port. But the one thing I really, Really wish it had was better modding support.

So I ask this. Would it at all be possible to do something like this? Would it be possible to create or use some scripting language to pull off the things LUA does in Marathon and ACS does for Doom, but in ROTT?

P.S: No criticism is intended in this post, I'm just trying to figure out if this would be possible Smile
