While not strictly ROTT. This is the closest we're going to get for a next gen iteration... and online! Here's the Doomworld link:

I haven't tried it yet but I was so chuffed I just had to share - I've been waiting an age for this baby! |

I played for a few minutes and it looks great! (and has working multiplayer
too I assume), which is more then can be said for winrottgl at the moment,
are you going to be doing a 32 level wad for this mod? If so, that would
be great! |

I would be interested
And from the creators thread on the Zdoom Forums it seems they're going for 32 levels. Some of the pics they have put up look pretty sweet! _________________ Head on over to the Rise of the Triad HQ for ROTT news, downloads, and more!

Ok, I'm looking into getting a place set up that the latest svn version of
gzdoom will be available, it'll probably be a few days before this is up and
running, I'll keep you posted... |

Just so you know. It all seems to work fine with the latest build on the DRD SVN page (Build 1124 as of now).
According to the txt file all you need to do to get the multiplayer working is:
Forward port 5029 on your router
Make sure everyone has the SAME build of (G)ZDoom
and start a multiplayer game with the multiplayer exe file
That's it! So does anyone want to try it out later? It looks to me the most active time here is around 22:00 GMT. I'll be on here then. |

Sure, I can give it a try, I don't do much multiplayer, but trying it with
this TC will be great! |

By the way, I think your referring to the ZDL frontend, I'll have to
configure it tonight, to do this from the command line, I think it's something
like the following text from the gzdoom forums:
1. That's actually pretty straightforward, if you're familiar with the command line. The host just needs to add -HOST to his command line, with a number indicating the total number of players that will be in the game:
Code:
gzdoom.exe -HOST 2
while the people joining need to use -JOIN and then either the host's IP address or the name of their computer:
Code:
gzdoom.exe -JOIN 192.168.1.5
-- or --
gzdoom.exe -JOIN BOBSCOMPY
Alternatively, use ZDL (find it HERE) and have the host select "Multi Co-Op" or "Multi Deathmatch" and the number of players, and the other players select Multi and for the number of players just specify "Joining".
2. Of course! Just add the -FILE switch to the command line and specify which WAD file to use. ZDL of course makes that easier.
3. The same way as you would over a LAN - just make sure the host gives you his/her IP address. It's easy to check that at http://www.whatismyip.com.

Are you sure it's that complicated? I clicked on the GZDoom Multiplayer icon that came with the ROTT TC and I was given a list of whether to host a game or join a game. When I chose host it asked how many were playing, started to load and then sat there waiting for a player to join. When I chose to join a game it simply asked for the host IP. I think most of the stuff is automated through the batch file...
BTW: My IP is: 94.168.186.142 ;P |

Ok, I didn't even look at the batch files, I've always done things
like this with command line arguments, I occasionally use a front end
program, but if batch files are available, I'll use them instead, maybe we
can try a game later tonight or something... |

I'll post my ip tonight, (I'm at work right now) We'll also have to decide who is hosting and how many players if others want to join in. What time tonight would be good? |

10 PM (GMT) is great for me. It'll also give others a chance to see this thread and join in if they like.
As far as hosting goes; I'm easy. If you want to do it feel free.
EDIT: I'm using the latest SVN build (1124) of GZDoom as found at DRD:
http://svn.drdteam.org/gzdoom/
So, to reiterate:
10 pm GMT
Forward port 5029 on your router
Use GZDoom r1124 with the Doom2 WAD
Anyone else up for it? |
