The TV world has the BAFTAS, the stage has the Tonys, the cinema has the Oscars, Doom has the Cacowards and now the ROTT community has... The Rancids!

To compliment the Triad idea there will be three categories. In no particular order of precedence these are:

1st: Mapper of the Year - The author of the best map made this year. It doesn't have to be a magnum opus. It just has to have something special.

2nd: Newcomer of the Year - The newcomer who has made the biggest contribution to the community.

3rd: ROTTer of the Year - Basically, the personality of the year. The person who has stood out for some reason or another (preferably for the good!).

The winner of each category will receive a special Rise of the Triad badge (designed by Yours Truly) mailed to their home. No pretendy award like that Doomworld bunch! Razz This is a real 'trophy' for your contribution!

You can nominate anyone in the community including yourself. They don't have to be a member of this forum but you do have to give a reason for your nomination.

I will give it a week or so and then collate the totals. If needed (though I doubt it!) I'll create a poll. The winners will be announced, as with the Proper Prize competition on the birthday of Dark War - 17 February.

So, come on, get nominating! Smile

Public nominations, or send them in private?

Either would be fine. But public gives you a chance to show your love. Smile

Well, I'm not sure if Lawstiker qualifies as a "newcomer" or not (he's new to me!) but if so, then I nominate him in the "Newcomer" category. Smile

He's done more than anyone I've seen in the past few months in reviving the ROTT community.

Are you going to nominate anyone for the other categories? You can nominate yourself if you like! Smile

I wouldn't feel comfortable nominating myself for anything, and I don't have any bright ideas for the other categories right now.

Awards for the ROTT community. See now this isn't something I would have thought about Smile

Now for Mapper of the Year? I'm going with Hammer because of his highly atmospheric levels. I would have gone with Mike and his very unique and creative Mikes Madness episode...but that was technically made back in 2008 Razz

Sorry Mike. Your certainly 2008's mapper of the year though Smile

Now for Newcomer...well that would have to be Per-Scan. He as well has done quite a few things for the community thus far, and much of my own actions wouldn't have happened if Per-Scan wouldn't have made the intial jump.

Now for personality... This one I'm giving Mike. Being half drink and jumping the gun by getting a web domain is just priceless Smile. Plus he's been quite helpful in getting RMD as freeware, and I'm quite sure if it wasn't for him things wouldn't be working out as well as they have been Cool

Thats my nominations Smile

Not to detract from your nomination, but I thought Hammer's levels were ones he had lying around from years ago too...

Ah...I forgot about Embarassed

He did make at least one level this year, but you are right. One of things he released was stuff he made awhile back.

Per-Scan! Hold of on my nomination for mapper of the year, need to take some more consideration here Smile

Heh, and some of the Mike's Madness episode was created this year. Parts of some of the old levels, and the level named "Interlude" (which you claimed was your favorite) was created in its entirety this year. Smile

Plus there's my new level "Tormentor" which nobody has seen yet (since nobody has yet finished Mike's Madness Wink)...

But again, just clarifying the facts, not nominating myself or even campaigning to be nominated. Smile

I can't finish Mike's Madness because it's so bloody hard! Razz I'll get there though! Smile

And remember, Daikonov might manage to release his maps this year... Wink

Awww, come on! Razz
If I can finish these levels on the most difficult setting, from start to finish without getting killed once, then you should be able to do it using the mouse on the easiest setting....and you're free to quicksave and reload as many times as you wish! Razz

If that's true, then it's fascinating to me you're so "into" it....especially when it comes to a 16-year-old game!
