Okay, I'm building a single-player ROTT level, and while playing areas of the map I never had trouble with before, the game is suddenly keeps crashing with:
Z_LevelMalloc: failed on allocation of 152 bytes.
The pattern I'm noticing is that it's running fine until I blow a guard to smithereens with a missile weapon.
What the heck is causing this, and what do I do to fix it?
What other details can I provide to help with this?

Are you play vanilla ROTT?
Do you put a lot of guards in the same room and let them both "active"?
But I can't sure, can you post your map via PM or something?

I didn't understand all of what you said, especially about the "active" guards. I've had it crash in small spaces with only one guard, if I blow him up with a heatseaker or something.
Funny thing is, I've had it crash more often when I have \EKG (ludicrous gibs cheat code) turned on.

I hate my poor English grammar... 
I played your level with WinROTTGL v1.4.2/1.4.4 and it doesn't crashed whatever I do.
I used to got the goddamn crashing in WinROTT and vanilla ROTT(It means the original ROTT.EXE in DOS) in my E1A8 level.

If I fires my BarkBlast attack to a lot of enemies in that level, game will crashed.
I changed to fire some powerful weapons like Firebomb and got some randomly crash, ever I just move somewhere, got a item/weapon or killed a enemy.
AND I HAVE NOT IDEA WHAT THE HELL HAPPENS.
But those GODDAMN CRASHES STOPPED in WinROTTGL v1.3.4, everything work fine and no more crashes again.
It should helped you, but this level WILL NOT work on WinROTT and original ROTT.EXE...
