Has anyone experienced problems when updating to the latest SDL_image.dll? I get an orange screen during the Apogee fanfare and black textures while in-game.
-OT-
Is there a way for WinRottGL to display the original sky texture?

Hey man, welcome to the forums!! Very Happy Regarding your question, well, theres an orange screen briefly, like for a few seconds during the apogee intro, but i havent noticed the black textures you mentioned. About winrottgl, i think you need to specify in the launcher options to use the default textures.

hope that helps. Smile

Thank you for your help. The problem above only happens if I use the latest version of SDL_image.dll available in the libsdl main page. If I use the one in the package Birger supplied, then it'll work fine (with the orange screen briefly). And which would be the parameter for winrottgl to use the default textures?

In the glrott launchmenu go to Settings -> Graphic settings -> under the External Graphics section uncheck use external graphics. The on the external graphics handling section uncheck everything.

The problem with the latest SDL dlls is probably because Birger compiled glrott 1.44 with an earlier version of SDL, and therefore needs that version to run properly. Sucks i know. We really need more developers working on ROTT... Confused

Thanks once again, though other graphics returned to their originals, I'm still getting the external sky textures. I haven't been able to disable it since the first release of winrottgl and actually don't know if it's even possible.

Your welcome, Hmm, try renaming or deleting the GL directory. Cant think of anything else to tell ya, i play with the new skybox. Smile Try fiddling with the options in the glrott launcher, there probably an option to imitate the original rott look. Very Happy

Unfortunately the game will not run without the gl directory. Maybe someone has converted the original art to winrottgl.

Hmm, strange, maybe glrott needs those gl files. Have you tried using plain winrott, instead of winrottgl?

I started with plain winrott, but it doesn't have some scaling options included in winrottgl, so most graphics will look tiny. The aiming is also inacurate.

Hey, have you tried running the icculus release of rott? It incorporates the latest combined upgrades of winrott, and many other rott ports and maintains full software rendering features. (no opengl). Heres the link:
www.icculus.org/rott

Ill try to compile a release of it and test it.
Do you run windows or linux, or other platform? Smile

I haven't tried icculus release of rott, yet. I'm currently on windows and have no idea how to compile from source codes. Sad

Its easy! On a linux terminal, just type "-/configure" wait a few moments, then type "make" wait a little more, and thats it! I'll see if the icculus rott release has a windows .exe, and if it does, ill compile one for you. Smile

Hey, sorry for the long delay, I emailed Birger about this problem, but apparently his email is not taking my messages for some reason. I emailed another rott developer, we might have better luck this time. Smile

The second time I e-mailed him and later I didn't get any reply. Aside these minor issues, winrottgl is running very fine here. I think that latest SDL_Image is not very stable too, because Ken's Labyrinth failed to run with it.
