Ah, i've been testing things with 64-bit Windows 7 (which I really don't like), and a few 16-bit application have not been functioning at all on it.
Some of this stuff may work just fine in Linux, haven't been in the Linux game for years so I wouldn't know. |

Hm, you may be right... I just figured that since it was a 64 bit platform, an more/less incompatible platform, that it would have less of a chance of working.
Could someone test if it works in Windows 7 64 bit..? _________________ -Swim, swim, hungry |

I got out my Windows 7 64 bit laptop again and tried out both RottED and ROTT Mapper Deluxe, and neither of the programs launched. This leads me to believe that they are both 16bit, and will not work on 64bit windows. Of course I may be wrong, but from what I read about 64bit processors and windows, 16bit just doesn't work well.
This means mappers of the future without access to windows 32bit will be forced to go with the Virtualization method, or set up Windows 3.1 through DOSbox to get these two programs to run. |

Yes, while looking at ROTTMD at least, I can tell it's a 16-bit program.
Not entirely sure how to get past that. I may do some digging in the future though. _________________ -Swim, swim, hungry |

Could something actually be done? I thought you would need the source for something like that, and as far as I know only one editor has had its source released. |

Well, there is always the option of a wrapper for specific architectures...
Not sure what else one could do though. _________________ -Swim, swim, hungry |

Sadly I don't think new people would go through all that trouble to get a simple editor to work. Some might, but not everyone.
Though the DOS editors are still simple enough to use on it, and Rott3Deditor works just fine as well. |

I mean a wrapper that comes with the editor, all the user would have to do is click an executable or a BAT file. _________________ -Swim, swim, hungry |

Oh ok, my mistake then. That would certainly be useful, if it is a possibility. |

So, how would you go about making a wrapper then? I think this would be a great thing to create otherwise, as Lawstiker says, potential mappers may be scared off without an easily accessible editor... |

Anyway, found out there was a more recent version for this. Apparently v3.0 became the popular editor, and v3.0a got swept under the rug. Anyway its on the HQ's ROTT Mapper Deluxe page now, as well as v1.0. I believe that is ALL the versions for it _________________ Head on over to the Rise of the Triad HQ for ROTT news, downloads, and more!
